The Adaptive Athlete Introduce
Finding the perfect place for your child to spend their summer—or any school break—is a top priority for parents across California. You need an environment that combines fun and engaging activities with professional instruction and a commitment to safety and inclusion. For many families in the Inland Empire region, The Adaptive Athlete in Upland, CA, stands out as a premier provider, uniquely blending a comprehensive Gymnastics center with an inclusive Adaptive sports center and a dedicated Summer camp organizer.
This dynamic facility operates as much more than a typical gym; it's a holistic children's activity hub. Identifying as a women-owned business, The Adaptive Athlete is committed to building physical fitness, confidence, and determination in individuals of all ages and abilities. Whether your child is taking their first Parent and Me Gymnastics class, mastering skills in a Tumbling Class, or enjoying an action-packed Summer Camp, the professional staff and high-quality facility aim to deliver a top-notch experience.
While the majority of customer feedback highlights the professional instructors, clean facility, and immense positive impact on children's skills and confidence, it's also important for local California users to be aware of the full spectrum of community experiences. One specific, detailed review raised serious concerns regarding alleged staff-led bullying, subsequent parental reporting issues, and accusations of racial bias in the administration's response. The review claimed the studio made decisions based on race after a difficult incident was reported, labeling the experience as deeply discriminatory. The business, like all organizations, operates within a community that values both exceptional service and inclusive practice. Families considering The Adaptive Athlete should approach their enrollment with the knowledge that while many attest to an amazing experience, as indicated by glowing testimonials about the supportive and professional staff, a significant concern about handling sensitive, discriminatory situations has been publicly raised. This information is crucial for parents prioritizing both athletic development and a safe, respectful environment for their children.

## What is Worth Choosing
The Adaptive Athlete offers a compelling proposition for California families, particularly those in the Inland Empire, looking for a centralized, comprehensive solution for their children's athletic and recreational needs. It’s a powerful combination of a high-end Gymnastics center and a vital Adaptive sports center rolled into one.
The primary reason to choose this studio is its unparalleled commitment to adaptive and inclusive fitness. Very few general sports facilities dedicate as much of their program structure to serving individuals with Developmental disabilities through programs like Adaptive Gymnastics. This specialization provides a much-needed, expertly supervised, and supportive environment that is difficult to find elsewhere in Southern California, fulfilling a critical need in the community.
Secondly, their strength as a Summer Camp Organizer makes them an excellent resource for working parents. Offering Summer, Winter, Preschool, and Sports Camps ensures year-round programming continuity in a familiar and well-equipped environment. The wide array of classes, from Baby Gymnastics to Adult Tumbling, means the entire family can engage with fitness in one location.
While the business has received overwhelming praise for its training quality and facility maintenance, as noted by one parent that their daughters have "vastly improved in their gymnastic abilities" and that "Every single instructor has been top notch," it is important for prospective clients to engage directly with the facility. As with any service provider, parents should use their initial interactions, tours, and trial classes as an opportunity to assess the environment, ask detailed questions about the staff training and protocol for handling sensitive issues, and ensure the studio’s culture aligns with their family’s values for safety and respect. Ultimately, The Adaptive Athlete provides high-quality, specialized athletic instruction, but informed decision-making remains the best policy for finding the right fit for your child.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Hands down the best gymnastics classes to start your little one in! My daughters have both vastly improved in their gymnastic abilities but also their confidence and determination! Gymnastics classes have quickly become their favorite part of the week and they continually practice their new skills at home in between classes. Every single instructor has been top notch and professional. The facility is very inviting and always very clean and well taken care of. The owner and family are absolute gems and pour their heart and soul into their business. Highly recommend!
August 01 · Kalli TempletonI’m deeply disheartened by the experience my daughter and I had at this adaptive athlete facility. What began as a sincere attempt to report concerns about staff-led bullying toward my child quickly spiraled into a discriminatory and upsetting ordeal. When I first reported the incident, I was asked to identify the staff involved. Unfortunately, their names were not posted anywhere—only class times appear on the schedule. Since all the coaches wore their hair up and lacked visible name tags, I had no choice but to describe them by physical identifiers, such as “Hispanic,” “White,” and “Black.” These descriptions were used solely to help differentiate staff members—not as any form of prejudice or disrespect.I spoke with a supervisor named Ryan, who was empathetic and acknowledged the situation as a learning moment. I appreciated his apology and honesty. However, just one week later, I was denied the simple request of changing my daughter's class schedule. I was told, without explanation, that “the staff thought it best for her to remain in her current class.” I found it troubling and inappropriate for a gymnastics facility to tell a parent what is best for their own child—especially after reporting mistreatment.Things became even more alarming when I received an email from the business that openly stated racial considerations as part of their reasoning. They implied that my daughter should remain with a coach of her own race and used vague phrases like “for the safety of the staff.” It is incredibly offensive and confusing to suggest a 4-year-old poses a safety risk—especially while ignoring the well-being and emotional safety of the child who had been mistreated. This response reflects the very definition of racial discrimination: making decisions based on race while ignoring the core issue at hand. They appeared more concerned about the comfort of their staff than about the child who was subjected to a harmful environment. Ironically, I was labeled as discriminatory—by those exhibiting clear bias themselves.Since then, I have found other gymnastics programs that are more affordable, inclusive, and staffed with caring, professional instructors. In all my years as a parent, I have never experienced anything like this—nor have I ever been accused of racism, especially by individuals perpetuating it.To other parents: Be aware. There are better, safer, and more respectful options for your children.
May 03 · KAREN CERECEREZMy grandson loves the two-year-old gymnastics program! The instructors are kind, energetic, and have fun with the kids.
August 30 · Scott KnaubI started taking my son to The Adaptive Athlete back when they first opened. I found them through a friend and from the first moment we walked through the door we were blown away. The gym manager Brittany and owner Linda are the most friendly people you will ever meet. They immediately made my son feel welcome and comfortable being in a gym atmosphere which he was very weary of at first. The coaches are always very professional while instructing and before/after classes. One of the other things we absolutely love about TAA is the family atmosphere that is promoted there. From the owners, manager, and coaches to the other parents, everyone make you feel comfortable and at home. My son always looks forward to his class days! Conclusion: I HIGHLY recommend the Adaptive Athlete for any parent looking to find an amazing way for their kids to get some energy out, meet new friends, and also gain some strength and coordination.
June 08 · Andrea BurgosMy 7.5 year old son attended “Parents Night Out” for the first time this evening & he loved it! He calls it “gymnastics” & kept telling us he like it & wants to back! The staff is well trained & very reassuring and accommodating. I am so happy and relieved that we found Adaptive Athlete & can’t wait til my son has another great experience!
