★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have been going to Second Wind CrossFit for about 8 or so years whenever I am in town. Here’s what keeps me coming back:1. The coaches are amazing - knowledgeable, perceptive, attentive and friendly. I have always picked up something new (even after almost 10 yrs of CrossFit and visiting a ton of gyms).2. The community is really friendly, diverse and open. People genuinely seem interested in supporting each other, even drop-ins like me.3. Morgan, the rock star! She is an amazing coach with an eye for all the important aspects of fitness, not just movement & nutrition. Her humor and perfect mix of tips and thought-provoking questions have helped me to develop better goals and more accountability to myself. What I learned from her has stuck with me, now 2 years after our online coaching sessions.I would certainly give Second Wind an “above and beyond” award!
November 30 · E. R.I am forever grateful to be part of this community. Morgan is so welcoming and encouraging. Although I've had to stop working out due to some physical and ongoing health reasons, 2025 is my comeback year. I look forward to and miss squats.
December 28 · Cheryl BentonJust a flat out amazing experience here, and that cannot be understated. If you are looking for well thought-out workouts, expert trainers who understand YOUR needs, and an unbeatable community this place is absolutely for you. Here you will not find a macho-man or competitive atmosphere but that does not mean there is not a community here to push you and drive you forward to self improvement. In that sense, you will see where this Crossfit Box outshines all others in the area, celebrating everyone's personal accomplishments and growth! The facility is ALWAYS in amazing shape, clean, and accommodating. I truly recommend Second Wind Crossfit! Always a 10 out of 10 experience.
April 16 · william HendersonI have been Crossfitting on and off since ~2009 and have been a longterm member of 6 different CrossFits in California and DC (and I have visited dozens of others). I am also objectively *not* good at CrossFit, I have a ton of injuries and physical limitations, and I don’t enjoy exercise. (Yes, I know that’s blasphemy, but I really don’t.)All of that said, I have been impressed by the high level of coaching and expertise at this CrossFit… the coaching is comparable to (and sometimes better than) the coaching I have seen and experienced at some of the well-known CrossFit “boxes” (gyms) on the west coast and far better than any coaching I have experienced at other DC CrossFits. The coaches, particularly Morgan and Lay, are excellent at modifying workouts for injuries and physical limitations, but also great at challenging folks who are competitive at CrossFit. They are also particularly skilled at breaking down and cueing some of the more challenging aspects of CrossFit, like Olympic lifts. My only complaint is that the lack of afternoon classes in the second half of each week often makes it hard for me to get in for workouts as often as I would like… but that’s probably more of a personal problem than a problem with this gym.
December 12 · Micah MorrisI've been back in DC for about a week now and the Second Wind Crossfit community has been awesome! Really like the coaching, time flexibility for classes and they way members cheer each other on during workouts. 10/10, would recommend for a drop in, or for a regular membership.
