Introduction / Overview: Finding Your Flow at Rhythms Community Studio in Portland
For local Oregonians seeking a holistic approach to movement and well-being, rhythms community studio is a standout establishment in the heart of Portland. Far more than a conventional fitness center, this dynamic space combines the disciplines of a Pilates studio, a yoga studio, a dance school, and a wellness center, all under one roof. The core philosophy centers on embracing the harmony of movement, breath, and a deep sense of belonging, creating a sanctuary where personal growth is nurtured with intentionality.
The studio is explicitly committed to creating an inclusive and celebratory environment. It proudly identifies as Black-owned, and demonstrates a deep commitment to community by being enthusiastically LGBTQ+ friendly and a designated Transgender safespace. This dedication to diversity and inclusion ensures that every member of the Portland community feels welcomed, seen, and supported on their wellness journey. This intentional culture has resulted in glowing reviews from clients who consistently praise the studio for being warm, welcoming, and full of good vibes.
The offerings at Rhythms are inspired by the natural cycles of the seasons, flowing with intention to strengthen the body, connect the mind, and nourish the spirit. While highly skilled and challenging workouts are a given—particularly in their signature Pilates classes—the studio places equal value on laughter, mindfulness, and feeling more connected to oneself and others after every session. It serves as a true community hub, often hosting social gatherings and events that blend movement with meaningful connection. Whether you are an experienced athlete or a complete beginner looking to build a safe, functional foundation, Rhythms provides a grounded and soul-centered space for your practice.
Location and Accessibility: A Northwest Portland Wellness Hub
Rhythms Community Studio is conveniently located in the vibrant Northwest neighborhood of Portland, a prime location that is easily accessible for residents across the city and surrounding areas. The studio’s proximity to downtown makes it an ideal spot for integrating wellness into a busy Oregonian lifestyle.
The studio’s physical address and contact information are:
Address: 1005 NW 16th Ave, Portland, OR 97209, USA
Accessibility is thoughtfully managed for those traveling to the studio. While the studio is located in an urban area, complimentary parking is typically available around NW 16th Ave or Lovejoy Street, though spaces may be limited depending on the time of day. This is a considerable benefit for a NW Portland location. Furthermore, the studio ensures comfort for all patrons with essential amenities, including a gender-neutral restroom, emphasizing its commitment to inclusivity.
For those with unpredictable schedules, Rhythms offers dual service options: high-quality Onsite Services for in-studio classes, as well as a robust selection of Online Classes. This flexibility, particularly the availability of high-caliber digital instruction that allows students to "practice with her more often at home," is a major benefit for anyone with a demanding or irregular schedule. All in-studio sessions require an appointment to ensure the best experience, maintain limited class capacity (maximum 16), and give instructors time to prepare.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Tenley is hands-down the best Pilates teacher in Portland if you want to focus on functional movement and get a serious workout. I come from an athletic background and first discovered Pilates in 2020 through a work-trade at a studio in Nashville—and quickly became hooked. Since then, I’ve taken private, online, and group classes in NYC, LA, Nashville, and Portland, and I can honestly say Tenley is the most skilled and talented teacher I’ve ever worked with. She has such a deep understanding of the body and gives thoughtful, precise cues that go far beyond the generic ones you can hear in group classes.I love starting my Saturdays with her, and her online classes have made it possible for me to practice with her more often at home - which I love bc my schedule is all over the place. On top of her expertise, she’s warm, welcoming, and genuinely cares about her students. If you’re looking for a teacher who brings both knowledge and heart to every class, Tenley is the one.
September 14 · Madeleine PotterTenley is such a gifted teacher and has a way of making everyone feel welcomed and celebrated at Rhythms. You can always expect a good workout, leaving feeling more connected to yourself and others, and good vibes. I love that classes are challenging and full of laughter!Mats and equipment are always provided, and grip socks are not required for mat Pilates at Rhythms! I love that I can just show up and get to work.
May 21 · Maile KWould give this studio infinite stars! At Rhythms, I have had the most compassionate, holistic, sweet, and fun fitness experiences. I get emotional telling people about what I have witnessed at Rhythms, in myself and in others. There is safety and support in this space. I have not felt this safe in my being before, especially in this type of atmosphere. Not to mention, I'm getting strong as hell!!Tenley is fun and silly and brings a challenging workout, but it's more than that. Tenley has adept knowledge of anatomy and Pilates. They have an incredible skill of being able to really see you and bring you to your next level with care and foresight. It's more than studying or practicing Pilates and fitness for many years; though, I know they have done that too! There is a palpable layer of passion and knowledge and care that you just have to experience! Thank you Tenley! Thank you to everyone I've met in my 8 months there. Rhythms has changed my life.
July 22 · Nirvana PadillaTenleyLooking for an instructor that makes you laugh as much as she makes you sweat? Look no further, Tenley’s classes provide the perfect balance of work and play. Even beginners who come in feeling wary about their new practice will leave feeling satisfied. Got specific needs? No problem because Tenley is a pro and will help you reach your fitness goals no matter where you’re at in your Pilates journey.StudioThe studio is very inviting and encourages a friendly vibe in every class. It’s clean, has nice lighting, wood floors (not concrete like some other studios!) and all props are provided (routinely sanitized, ofc). I find it to be a welcoming space and I believe you will too.
May 19 · GioThis space is absolutely beautiful and welcoming. I feel so safe and feel the communal love in this space. All the teachers and classes I’ve attended thus far have been transcendental, emotional, enlightening and loving. If you’re looking for a safe space to honor your body and move freely this is the place for you. Tenley is a magical presence whose light lifts you up. I am so grateful for this space.
