This gym is designed for individuals who are serious about their workouts and are looking for a place with essential equipment to get the job done. It aims to provide a no-frills environment where you can focus on your training without unnecessary distractions, making it a viable choice for many in the local community.
Queen City Strength operates on a membership basis, which is a common model for many fitness establishments. This structure is intended to provide members with consistent access to the facilities. As with any membership-based service, it is important to understand the terms and conditions before committing. The gym is noted for its focus on strength training, offering a variety of equipment that caters to this type of workout. For those in Virginia who are specifically looking for a place to lift weights, this focus may be a primary reason to consider Queen City Strength. The gym’s atmosphere is geared towards a serious training mindset, which can be motivating for dedicated fitness enthusiasts. It's a place where the primary objective is getting a solid workout in.
In addition to its focus on strength training, the gym also offers amenities that are essential for a good workout experience. These include a restroom and shower facilities, which are crucial for comfort and convenience, especially for those who work out before or after their job. The availability of these amenities allows members to freshen up and continue with their day. The gym's accessibility features, such as a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot, are also important points of consideration. These features demonstrate a commitment to serving a wider range of the community, ensuring that individuals with mobility challenges can also access the facility. This inclusiveness is a positive aspect for many potential members in the Virginia area.
The membership structure at Queen City Strength requires a commitment, and it is important for prospective members to clarify all aspects of their agreement. Publicly available information indicates a monthly membership fee, with yearly dues. The gym also accepts various payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, which offers flexibility for members. This variety of payment options can make it more convenient to manage your membership payments. However, some past members have noted issues with the payment and cancellation process, so it would be prudent for new members to ensure they have a clear understanding of the full terms and how to manage their account. Proper communication channels and a clear record of payments are always good practice when dealing with any membership service.
When considering any fitness center, it is helpful to look at the full picture, including both the positive attributes and any potential challenges. The no-frills, strength-focused environment of Queen City Strength can be a great fit for some individuals in Staunton. It provides the necessary equipment in a dedicated space. However, it is also important to be aware of the experiences of others, which have included issues with communication from management, particularly regarding billing and membership cancellation. Some members have reported difficulties with contacting the owner to resolve account issues, leading to unexpected charges. It is always recommended to verify the current policies and communication methods before signing up for a long-term contract. For example, some reviews mentioned a preference for text communication and a lack of responsiveness, which is something to keep in mind.
Furthermore, some reviews have pointed out that the weight room lacks air conditioning, which can make workouts difficult during warmer months. This is a practical consideration for anyone living in Virginia, where summers can be hot and humid. Additionally, there have been comments about equipment maintenance and the owner's communication style regarding broken machines. While the gym may have all the necessary tools for a good workout, it's worth a visit to check the condition of the equipment yourself. For those who thrive in a more raw, intense training environment and are less concerned with climate control, this might not be an issue. However, for others who prioritize comfort, it is a significant factor to consider. Ultimately, the decision to join should be based on a thorough understanding of the gym's operational style and whether it aligns with your personal preferences and expectations.
The gym’s location on Greenville Ave makes it accessible to many in Staunton. The convenience of its location is a definite plus for local residents. For people in Virginia looking for a local gym, having one close by is often a top priority, as it makes it easier to stay on a consistent schedule. The accessibility features, payment options, and general no-nonsense environment are all factors that could appeal to potential members. However, as with any service, it's about finding the right fit for you. Understanding the business's operational nuances, as highlighted by other members' experiences, is key to making an informed decision and ensuring a positive and seamless fitness journey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The owner, Paige, is impossible to contact and will scam you.I had been going here for a couple years and had automatic payments set up with my debit card through Paige. Then when I tried to cancel my membership, she responded once or twice, then completely ghosted me. I made several attempts to text and call and never got a response. Her voicemail message essentially says she won't answer phone calls or listen to voicemails. So although I had already dropped off my keyfob (as the sign on the front door instructs), I was still getting charged. I ended up needing to get a new debit card and cancelling the one that Paige had the info for so she couldn't continue scamming me. I also disputed the payments through my bank so I could get my money back.As far as the actual gym goes, it's not great. The weight room has no AC, so it's pretty miserable in the warmer months. Seems like there are always machines broken, then Paige will tape up a piece of paper on the wall yelling at the members for breaking her stuff. At the time of this review:Monthly membership = $45 (I think this required a 12-month contract)Yearly dues = $50
August 15 · GrandTheftGoldfishI had been going to this gym for almost two years and I loved it. My gym partner and I would go in the mornings and there would be hardly anyone there. Had no issues with the owners until about 2 months ago when I tried to get in with my key fob and it wouldn’t work. I texted both the owners and only one responded. Saying that they had went through everyone’s accounts and about 50% weren’t paying their bill and to contact Page to get it fixed. The thing is that the bill was getting taken out automatically so why wasn’t I notified that something was wrong with my account. Never once changed banks or my debit card so everything was up to date. Looking through my bank statements after the owner told me that, it hadn’t been getting taken out for 5 months. Not my fault if there isn’t some way to pay your membership yourself. Page read my message and never responded back. Would not recommend unless you like a gym where you could be kicked out if the owners don’t keep up with the memberships and blame it on you.
April 26 · Kenly RiddleAs a guest in the area, I have a directory of gyms I can visit through my insurance. In my travels I go to a lot of different gyms. It's as hard logistically as it sounds.I was first confused when I drove here because it looks like a dealership. I walked in the wrong door, but was directed to the other side of the building. (one side is cross fit on side is the gym).I come pretty early so no staff but plenty of patrons. In the front of the house (aka the old showroom) is the cardio equipment. Very good selection and you get big windows to look at Virginia.I'm the back of the house ( the old shop) is the strength equipment. Nice selection here as well with westside barbell equipment. In the back, back is a punching bag.Somewhere in the middle is a yoga/stretching room and locker room with showers.Overall pretty pleased with the set up and it was very unique. I'll probably come back soon.
December 30 · JV SmithI recommend coming here! Satisfied 100%. Everything you need is here. 10$ for a guess(day) pass. I love the military support (I'm a military brat) and I love the Christian faith support as well. Bathrooms are clean, access to a shower and scale. I came down for the weekend and I'm glad I saw this place before considering going to planet fitness. I wish I had an old school gym like this near home and it's cool they have a kiddie area as well for parents. I'll be back soon for sure, I'd love to meet the owner.
