August 12 · NikkiAs far as the equipment and cleanliness of this place, I have zero complaints! 5 stars in that department. I have a few others though.My first is that it is consistently understaffed. Often when I come in and there is literally only one staff member in the building going back and forth between cleaning and tending to the front desk. I heard from others this is the case no matter what time of day, or day of the week you come in. It is very annoying, and I feel bad having to track down or call the single employee on duty whenever I need a drink or massage chair since I know they are probably running around doing 2 to 3 people’s jobs.My second complaint is about the manager. I have noticed, and also heard from my friend who comes here even more often than I do since it's his home club, and other people that the manager is hardly ever present, and many people have a hard time getting a hold of her when they need to. Staff often tell them she is "too busy" or "she isn't in today" and they "think" she will be available at a certain time- and they seem to struggle with giving anyone her exact schedule as far as her hours or days off. Most of the staff are very nice and seem to be trying the best they can to help, so to me it seems like not knowing her exact schedule is not on them.My third complaint is the temperature of the gym. The other day it was awful to the point it was very difficult to workout. They put up fans but all they seem to do is blow hot air. When I was in this morning a female employee looked sickly. Her face was flushed and she seemed a bit out of it and like she was struggling. She is usually super bubbly and smiling when I see her, but instead she looked like she was forcing a smile, so it was extra cause for concern. I asked her if she was okay and she told me “I hope so” last summer someone passed out when the AC broke down and it was out ALL summer. She also said that she wasn’t 100% sure it broke down, or if it just had trouble catching up with the extreme heat outside. I suggested she should probably leave early, but she told me she was the only employee working at the moment so she couldn't and she had to still try to do stuff. It was genuinely kind of horrifying, and it makes me wonder how many people have passed out at this place or come close to it. I would think if it's 97 degrees out and the AC isn't working they would close for everyone's safety, but management overall seems lacking and like they overlook many things.
June 24 · Gregory SGym itself isn’t bad but employees will take up double sessions in tanning while people are left waiting so that’s a little annoying when it’s busy.-Update-You want more detail? I’m pretty sure you have cameras, should make it easy enough to look into but sure I’ll detail it here for everyone. This morning 4/16 an employee (off shift) went in to tan- I know she’s an employee because she’s usually on shift when I arrive. when I arrived and signed in about(7:12-7:15) no tanning rooms were available I asked how long until the hybrid and was told there was a min and a half left for the person currently using it. I signed in and waited. In that min and a half the only person to exit the spa area is the off duty employee who comes out just to ask the on duty employee to “restart” it for her because “she’s feeling bougie and wants to go another round. Do 7 more min…. Hang on though I gotta go back.” As time goes by all the other patrons begin to exit and other tanning booths open. When I approach the desk and note that folks came out the on duty employee tells me they weren’t the hybrid. When i said I overheard she was going back in I got told no that’s not what I heard and that some one else was suddenly ahead of me… this is after telling me 10 min ago it was only going to be a 1:30 min wait. I say ok sure. Wait another 10 min and it’s now 7:30 so I go to the desk and tell her its been 22 min( the time I stood there plus the 8 or something min before o arrived that she was in the booth) and can I just please get a different booth. Again. Just annoying when as a regular patron can only use a bed once every 24 hours that’s all.
April 16 · Samantha McManusThe air conditioning has been out all summer, and was last summer too. Or maybe it has been out this whole time and it's only noticeable in the summer? The manager does nothing about it, and corporate is useless and just forwards complaints to the manager. My husband does HVAC and he said if a work order was really put in for it like staff claim, that they would have been on top of it and fixed it already and it never takes this long. I'm not sure if there is embezzlement involved or funding is so low budget they can't afford to fix it? I have no idea so I can't say... But if you workout during the summer you are better off with a different gym. It's a shame what this place has become.
July 28 · Melinda BNo issues with the equipment or staff but I wish they would hire more people to work the counter. Every-time I go I have to track down an employee just to get a barbell pad or tan. They are always cleaning which is great but there should be someone at the counter the whole time to help customers not one person doing it all.
