★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The instructors are highly knowledgeable and wonderful at teaching good form, frequently giving individual assistance to help students get the most out of their class. I’d never done Pilates before and have learned a lot in my 12 weeks of classes. I’ve enjoyed the sessions, experienced personal improvement and grown stronger.
April 17 · Vicki McGheeThis is the REAL DEAL. The head instructor (Nahnie) is a "grand-daughter" - that is, she was trained by a teacher who trained under Pilates himself - and it shows in everything she does. Forget the new-agey, watered-down nonsense that so often passes for mat "Pilates" these days. This will be THE hardest - and MOST BENEFICIAL - core workout you will ever experience. Not only is her cueing superlative/peerless (I say this as someone who has taught in the fitness industry for more than two decades), she is absolutely meticulous and relentless in observing/detecting and correcting every single "cheat" (my word, not hers), large or small, that students engage in - keeping everyone in perfect alignment throughout each class. She is warm, funny, supportive, and FIERCE. She doesn't sugarcoat corrections. To borrow upon a distinction regarding teachers offered by the Abbot of the local Buddhist monastery: Nahnie is a "tiger" teacher rather than a "lamb" teacher - albeit a friendly and KIND tiger. :-) If you're looking for someone who only is going to tell you how wonderful you are and how perfect your form is all the time, look elsewhere. My wife (who has taught barre, step, etc. for 40 years) and I both agree that she is THE best instructor we have EVER had the honor to work with. If you want to truly get your core in shape, TRAINING AT OLD TOWN PILATES WILL BE TRANSFORMATIVE.
August 22 · Steven MccornackIt's been over 16 years since I started Pilates with Nahnie Barberio, starting at age 55. Every time I go (twice a week) I know I'm giving myself a gift. As I'm getting older, it's crucial to stay strong, flexible, and steady on my feet. Pilates covers it all.Nahnie's approach is true to traditional Pilates, and comes with a discipline and ongoing fine-tuning that she keeps interesting after all these years. We students enjoy each other and are supportive and take the work seriously. Nahnie sets a high bar, but also makes it fun. She's attentive to each and every student's needs, body type, and abilities. She's encouraging and watches out for us, knowing that doing routines correctly and with supervision prevents injury. She makes us want to rise to the occasion.I sometimes can't believe the things my body can do now. Thanks, Nahnie! You are truly a gem!
August 17 · Barbara HranilovichI’ve been practicing pilates at Old Town Pilates since 2014. Nahnie’s mat classes have transformed my mind and body through the discipline of the six principles of pilates. She has taught me so much over the years! I go twice a week as a dedicated student and love my family at OTP.
