Ohana Academy of Gymnastics Dance Music & Art Introduce
For families in Illinois, finding a place where children can explore their passions in gymnastics, dance, music, and art is an exciting prospect. Ohana Academy of Gymnastics Dance Music & Art in Bridgeview aims to be a hub where multiple creative and athletic disciplines come together under one roof. The name "Ohana" itself means "family" in Hawaiian, suggesting a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where every child can feel a sense of belonging. The academy presents itself as a place to provide "sound fundamental programs in a family type atmosphere for the entire family," a concept that appeals to parents looking for a one-stop-shop for their children's activities.
The concept of Ohana Academy is to unify the arts and athletics, providing a broad range of options for young people to learn and grow. The center’s website emphasizes building on children's natural love of movement and creativity in a safe, fun, and positive environment. The mission is to instill discipline, perseverance, and pride in its students. However, recent customer reviews have brought to light significant and troubling issues that challenge this image. Several reviews describe alleged instances of discrimination against children with autism, with one review claiming that an "old lady" at the academy refused to sign up a child due to their autism, despite the parent explaining that their child was high-functioning and capable of following directions. Another review similarly expressed extreme disappointment and a recommendation against attending the academy due to a similar experience. These accounts, if factual, stand in stark contrast to the academy’s stated mission of being a family-friendly and inclusive space.
Ohana Academy is located at 7504 W 85th Pl, Bridgeview, IL 60455, USA. The location is situated in a practical area of Bridgeview, making it accessible to local families. The academy provides a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, which is a useful feature for convenience. It is situated on a quiet street, which may contribute to a focused learning environment. However, the serious concerns raised in customer reviews about the alleged discrimination and lack of understanding regarding children with disabilities could outweigh the convenience of the location for many families. It is important for parents to be aware of these reviews and consider them when making a decision about where to enroll their children.

What is worth choosing?
When choosing a place for children to engage in physical and creative activities, parents in Illinois rightly prioritize a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Ohana Academy of Gymnastics Dance Music & Art, based on its provided information, offers a wide array of programs in a single, convenient location. This multi-disciplinary approach is a significant convenience for families with children who have varied interests, as it allows them to participate in multiple activities without traveling to different locations. The focus on fundamental programs and a family-like atmosphere is also an appealing concept for many parents who want their children to receive a strong foundation while feeling a sense of community.
However, it is crucial for potential customers to be aware of the serious allegations of discrimination documented in recent customer reviews. These accounts, which claim the academy refused to enroll children with autism, directly contradict the "Ohana" philosophy of family and inclusivity. Such allegations raise profound questions about the academy's commitment to its stated values and its readiness to work with a diverse range of children. For parents of children with special needs, these reviews are a critical factor to consider, as the emotional well-being and sense of belonging for their child is paramount. The reviews suggest a lack of understanding and a discriminatory attitude that can be deeply hurtful and counterproductive to a child's development.
Ultimately, while Ohana Academy presents itself as a convenient and family-friendly option, the public accounts of discrimination must be taken into account. The decision to choose this academy must be made with full knowledge of these concerns. For families looking for a place where every child, regardless of ability, is not only welcome but also supported and encouraged, it would be wise to exercise caution and perhaps seek out other establishments that have a clear and consistent track record of inclusivity. The most important choice a parent can make is to find a place that fosters a child's love for an activity in a truly positive and accepting environment.

October 11 · itzrosie babyDiscrimination against special needs!! My son has high functioning Autism. The old lady there was so ready to sign my son up but stopped me once I told her my about my son’s condition. He completely follows directions & is capable of doing anything. He’s just not social & not 100% verbal. He’s only 4yrs old, nobody can really understand a 4-5 yr old anyways so I’m very confused on why he can’t be in class??? This place discriminated my son bc they put a label on him. She hears the word autism & got scared. The lady said “we don’t have the equipment for them”. Like what ?? This lady has no education on special needs yet works with kids. I should’ve just never mentioned his autism & she would’ve proceeded to sign him up. My son was so excited, it broke my heart. 0 stars for discrimination. Go educate yourself.
October 11 · EveMy daughter and grand daughter left there in tears!! The lady there was extremely rude and refused my grand baby because she's autistic and said she doesn't deal with those type of kid's!!!
October 11 · Anna AdameGreat place, both coaches are professional and very strict. They get very personal with the kids to find their strengths and weaknesses.
June 10 · JUST NVMEThe coaches are amazing and patient. They focus on each girl individually as well as a group. Professional and inviting atmosphere.
