Minimalist Movement Introduce
In the bustling neighborhoods of Brooklyn, finding a space that offers a truly focused and personalized approach to fitness can feel like discovering a hidden treasure. Minimalist Movement, a women-owned Pilates studio, is precisely that—a gem dedicated to enhancing your daily life through mindful and effective movement. This isn't your typical large, impersonal gym. Instead, it offers a welcoming and intimate environment where the focus is on quality instruction and building a strong foundation from the inside out. Whether you are new to Pilates or a seasoned practitioner, Minimalist Movement provides a unique and empowering experience that goes beyond a simple workout.
The core philosophy of Minimalist Movement is that fitness should be a tool to enhance your life, not complicate it. The studio's approach is designed to help you become an "ultimate explorer of your own body," using the highly effective Pilates reformer and other equipment to improve strength, mobility, and overall function. Instructors, praised by clients as "excellent," guide you through a balanced series of movements, incorporating both familiar exercises for consistent progress and new ones to challenge different muscle groups. This balance ensures that you are continuously improving while also targeting a wide range of physical goals. The result, as one long-time client noted, is feeling "better inside and out."
Minimalist Movement, under the leadership of its owner, Deb, is celebrated for its clean, well-equipped, and inviting space. The studio’s commitment to providing a lovely and positive energy is a significant factor in why members enjoy every class they attend. It’s a place where you can feel comfortable and confident, knowing that the equipment is well-maintained and the instructors are attentive to your form. This combination of a professional, clean environment and an encouraging atmosphere creates an ideal setting for personal growth and a sustainable fitness routine.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My regular Pilates studio, have been coming for a few months and feel better inside and out since. The instructors incorporate a great balance of same moves that I continue to improve and new moves to target different muscles. Highly recommend :)
December 07 · Ali McNairThis is a gem of a Pilates studio in Brooklyn. I have been to a few classes now and all the instructors are excellent. The owner, Deb runs a great studio - its so clean and the equipment is great, it has a lovely energy. I have enjoyed all the classes!
September 24 · Anne-Marie CanterI've been going to Minimalist Movement since it opened over a year ago. The instructors are all great and have different styles (some are more active, some more focused on mobility), depending on your mood and level of experience. The machines are SO nice and the studio has a real neighborhood/community feel. Pilates has had such an amazing impact on my body and health. Very much recommend this studio!
May 21 · Rachel SchwartzI attended three classes here over the holidays while visiting Brooklyn. As a former dancer, physical therapist, and owner of a physical therapy and Pilates studio in Los Angeles, I was disappointed in the overall experience. While the instructors had dance backgrounds, their Pilates training and understanding of anatomy and biomechanics appeared limited. This was evident in their instruction, exercise selection, and spring choices, which often didn’t align with proper mechanics or progression principles.Additionally, two of the classes repeated more than half of the same routine, even though they were taken just days apart. The exercises lacked functional application, with minimal repetitions followed by frequent breaks, which disrupted the flow.
January 04 · Haley YipObsessed with this studio. I only like to train with certified instructors or physical therapists otherwise I find that I’m prone to injury. This studio knows their stuff — a challenging but targeted workshop for my arms, butt and absThe instructors all know their anatomy so it’s amazing if you have injuries tooAlso great local community buildingBest Pilates studio I’ve found in nyc! (Been looking for a good one for 7 years!)
