Lakeview Run Club Introduce
For Chicagoans, staying active is a way of life, and for many, running is a key part of their fitness routine. However, pounding the pavement alone can sometimes lack motivation. That's where a community like the Lakeview Run Club comes in. This isn't a traditional fitness center with weights and treadmills; instead, it's a dynamic and welcoming group dedicated to the joy of running together. It's a place where new and experienced runners alike can connect, get active, and explore the city's scenic routes. The club’s casual and friendly atmosphere is a major draw, and as members can attest, it makes getting out the door for a workout a lot easier. It's built on the simple but powerful idea that fitness is more fun and sustainable when you do it with others.
The Lakeview Run Club meets at the Nettelhorst School, located at 3252 N Broadway, Chicago, IL 60657, USA. This well-known landmark in the Lakeview neighborhood serves as the starting point for their runs. The central location makes it easy for residents from surrounding areas to attend. The club's accessibility is further enhanced by its location, which is well-served by public transportation and easily reachable on foot or by bicycle. As a public meeting spot, the club operates in an accessible environment, and while specific details are limited, the school's facilities include restrooms for use before or after the run. The group’s meeting spot has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring a welcoming environment for all.
The primary service offered by the Lakeview Run Club is a group running experience. This is a fitness center in the truest sense of a community hub for physical activity. The core service is the organized group running club. Here’s a closer look at what that entails:
- Casual Meet-ups: The club holds casual meet-ups twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This consistent schedule allows members to plan their workouts in advance and build a routine.
- Flexible Distance: The standard run is 3 to 4 miles, a manageable distance for many fitness levels. This distance allows for a good workout without being overly taxing.
- Pace Groups: The club caters to all skill levels by offering different pace groups. Whether you're a beginner who needs to run at a slower, more conversational pace or an experienced runner looking for a faster group, you can find a suitable pace. This inclusive structure ensures no one is left behind.
- Free to Join: One of the most significant services is that the club is completely free to join. There are no fees, memberships, or registrations required; all you have to do is show up.
- Social Element: The runs are often followed by a social gathering at a nearby pub on Clark Street, near Wrigley Field. This social aspect is a huge part of the club’s appeal, offering a chance to connect with fellow runners over drinks and food.
Beyond the basic services, the Lakeview Run Club has several key features and highlights that make it a standout choice for local runners.
- Incredible Community Vibe: The most consistent praise from members is for the club’s friendly, welcoming, and positive energy. Newcomers feel immediately included, and the group's inclusive nature makes it a great place to start your running journey or find a new fitness community.
- Non-Intimidating Atmosphere: For those who are not confident in their running abilities, the club is described as a non-intimidating setting. With pace groups for beginners, it ensures that everyone can participate comfortably, regardless of their current fitness level.
- Added Social Perks: The post-run gathering at a local pub is a huge bonus. The offer of discounted beers and wings creates a rewarding and social conclusion to a hard workout, reinforcing the community aspect of the club.
- Accessibility and Convenience: The club's reliance on a free, public meeting spot at Nettelhorst School and its consistent schedule makes it highly convenient. Runners can show up as they please without the pressure of a formal gym membership.
- Focus on Fun: The club's ethos is clearly about making fitness enjoyable. By combining a workout with a social gathering, it encourages a holistic approach to wellness that is both physically and socially rewarding.
As the Lakeview Run Club is a casual, community-based group, there is no formal business contact information. The best way to get in touch or learn more is simply to show up at one of the scheduled meet-ups.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Very friendly group, casual meet up every Tuesday and Saturday, run 3 to 4 miles at your own pace, with pace groups, then end the run at a pub on Clarke St. near Wrigley. It's free and theres $5 beers and half price wings at the end, what's not to like!
March 15 · SJS BowleyI had such a positive experience at Lakeview Run Club! The energy was incredible and everyone was so nice and welcoming! I’m not that good of a runner and there were so many people there that ran at my beginners pace. It’s free to join and all you have to do is just show up.
November 04 · Hilary KenoAbsolutely love this club! They are some of the most welcoming, non-competitive, Chicagoans I've met. The group is totally free to join, simply show-up! They have runners for all distances, paces, and abilities, including a dedicated group for runners at a 12-13 min pace. Plus, after every run, they go out for dinner and drinks to make memories and develop friendships. Seriously one of the hidden gems of Chicago, surrounding yourself with positive people who just want to get moving! Great way to make friends.
September 30 · Kayla Jane McLaughlinI joined LVRC in October, not knowing many people in Chicago. Since then, I’ve found my best friends and a wonderful community! I recommend everyone stop by!
June 18 · Jessica DelgadoThis is the most welcoming group ever! I moved to Chicago ~6 months ago not knowing anyone in the city. I have met all of my friends through this club! If you like to run, drink and be social this is the running club for you!
