★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The gym has a nice and spacious environment. Some of the popular machines aren’t available in sufficient numbers, also cleaning issues like other branches…, but overall it’s an acceptable gym. One of the managers, Robert, also helped me get the best deal.
July 11 · OmidGenerally speaking, LA fitness is a 3 to 4 star gym, but it has more than everything. You need to get a thorough workout and stay fit.The LA Fitness on Barranca Parkway in Irvine however, has completely helped transform my fitness journey. The recent renovation has given this location a much-needed upgrade, with modern equipment, improved lighting, and a refreshed overall atmosphere that makes every workout feel premium. Though they can still do a better job at cleaning the sauna which is an issue in most LA fitnesses I’ve been in.What truly sets this location apart is the clientele. The membership base here is noticeably above average compared to other LA Fitness locations I've visited. Working out alongside dedicated fitness enthusiasts keeps one motivated and pushing harder during each session. There's a positive energy that radiates throughout the gym that's hard to find elsewhere.I must also commend the front desk staff who are consistently welcoming and helpful. They greet members with genuine smiles, remember familiar faces, and are always ready to assist with any questions or concerns. This level of customer service makes a significant difference in the overall experience.I also have to mention their new juice and smoothie bar: Elevate. It is fantastic. And the young owner Seina is a treasure. This is hands-down the best smoothie bar I’ve ever experienced in an LA fitnessWhether you're just starting your fitness journey or are a seasoned gym-goer, this location offers everything you need in a clean, well-maintained environment with a community that will keep you coming back. Highly recommend checking out this newly renovated gem in Irvine!
April 10 · NICK MENNELLWorst gym community ever.I get it. We all want to work out, but there's a lot of people in this gym specifically that hog a lot of equipment, use two machines when they could only use one at a time.People are rude and don't go around seeing that you're working on a set. This is my first time here and it happened five times within the hour that I was there.Aside from that, there are no wipes for you to clean the machines. And that's just a very bad No-No in hygiene, especially in gyms.Unfortunately this is the first and last time I'm coming to this location.
September 26 · Jessica HernandezMy family and I recently experienced the most blatant racism we’ve ever faced at the Irvine LA Fitness, and I feel it’s important to share this publicly. We’ve lived in Irvine for over five years and have been members of this LA Fitness for about a year. Until now, we’ve never had an issue. The General Manager, Robert, refused to allow my sister to enter with me as a guest. He claimed my membership type didn’t allow guests because it is provided through my Veteran insurance program. I calmly responded that she could instead use the 7-day pass. His reply shocked me: “Oh anyone can do that. But since she said she would start a membership on the 1st we are not going to take the 7-day pass because we would have to sit down with her and give her a tour and we’re not going to do that.”At the time, multiple staff members were standing around with little to do, so the excuse made no sense. My sister had even been a previous member at this same location and already has a paid personal training package with one of their trainers, Jed. Robert didn’t even bother scanning her code to see if her membership had already started. Instead, he became aggressive in both stance and tone. What makes this worse is that earlier the same day, my white Veteran friend with the exact same membership type was allowed to bring in a guest with no problem. That’s when I realized we were being singled out because we are Black.I plan to file a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, but I also want this to be public so others know what we went through. If you are Black or a person of color considering this gym, please be aware—you may not be treated with the same respect and fairness as others.
August 20 · LaToya NewsomeI’m extremely disappointed with LA Fitness. I followed their exact process to cancel my membership in person, as required. I physically went to the location, and was told it was taken care of. I insisted for any proof or email or letter , and he said "you don't need to , there is nothing I can give you."Yet, they continued to charge me ...When I finally noticed after 2 months , they dont respond on phone and I had to go in person. There is no respect for you time! So I went back, they claimed they had no proof that I canceled and said they would “submit a refund request” — but made it clear there’s no guarantee I’ll get any of that money back. So essentially, they can just ignore your cancellation and hope you don’t notice the extra charges.Honestly, it feels like this might be a deliberate tactic — ignore the first one or two cancellation attempts and keep charging to see if people just give up or don’t catch it.On top of that, the facility itself is old and poorly maintained. The showers and pool are not clean, and everything feels outdated and neglected. It’s a shame because this experience has completely destroyed any trust I had in the company. I would not recommend LA Fitness to anyone — there are better, cleaner, and far more transparent gyms out there.
