Jewish Community Center of Omaha Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For families and individuals across Nebraska seeking a holistic approach to wellness that extends far beyond a standard gym floor, the Jewish Community Center of Omaha (JCC) stands out as an unparalleled resource. The complex blends top-tier fitness facilities with a remarkable range of recreational, cultural, and educational services, including a Dance school, Day care center, Event venue, Summer camp organizer, Theater production space, and an impressive Swimming facility. This unique combination makes membership an investment in total family well-being, not just a monthly gym fee.
The atmosphere at the JCC is intentionally welcoming and inclusive, proudly identifying as LGBTQ+ friendly. This focus on community and acceptance is a major draw for Omaha residents. While membership is required for access, the JCC is open to all—a fact that is vital to its community role. The center is structured to support health goals through various means, offering onsite services ranging from over 70 free weekly Group exercise classes to specialized, modern training programs like JFIT and Pilates Reformer training. It also acts as a vital community space, hosting events and artistic shows, proving that the commitment to enrichment truly covers the body, mind, and spirit. The JCC’s comprehensive nature ensures that while you might join for the Fitness center, you stay for the unmatched community and resources.

What is worth choosing
The Jewish Community Center of Omaha is worth choosing because it fundamentally redefines the concept of a "fitness center" for Nebraska residents, moving beyond a single-purpose gym to an all-encompassing life and wellness resource. The primary value lies in the sheer breadth of its offerings and the resulting convenience for families. Instead of paying for separate gym memberships, dance classes, summer camps, and swimming pool access, a single JCC membership unlocks a massive 28-acre campus of amenities. This is an unparalleled investment in total family health, education, and recreation.
The fitness component, the Phil Sokolof Fitness Center, provides state-of-the-art equipment and over 70 free classes—a value-add that significantly surpasses most standalone gyms in the area. The ability to drop children off at the FREE Fit & Sit child care program while parents utilize the fitness equipment, attend a class, or swim laps in the 25-meter Competition Pool is a logistical game-changer for busy Omaha parents. This integrated approach solves the common dilemma of balancing personal fitness goals with family needs.
Furthermore, the JCC’s community values are a major draw. Its commitment to being fully Wheelchair accessible, providing Gender-neutral restroom facilities, and actively welcoming all members (including being LGBTQ+ friendly) creates a safe, modern, and supportive atmosphere. While one customer review pointed out occasional maintenance issues with the Health Spa facilities—a valid point for those considering the spa upgrade—the overall quality of the core fitness, aquatic, and recreational spaces is consistently praised, and the dedication of the staff is repeatedly highlighted. For any Nebraska individual or family prioritizing a diverse, inclusive, and high-value environment for physical and cultural well-being, the JCC of Omaha offers a truly comprehensive and enriching choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Thank-you Jewish Community, staff & visitors for making my fused art show so successful.I appreciate all the hard work Lynn Batten did to make it successful. The kind individuals who came through to see it & those that just happened upon it. I am very grateful to you all. Many thanks!
November 05 · Deb KubikWonderful facilities, and the staff is friendly and helpful. There are many things I love about the JCC. But can you access these facilities? Too often, things don't work, or there is limited access due to "staffing" (which some of us find a bit questionable). If you are considering the spa, I would highly recommend against it--great facilities in there, but too often they do not work (and I do not mean normal maintenance). And it pains me to write that, but it is an honest review from someone who has been a member for three plus years.
October 10 · Scott RothMy family has been members of the JCC for over 40 years. I now travel frequently back and forth between my West coast home and Omaha and signed up for a membership in August of 2023. I had never seen the women’s health club and signed up for that to be added onto my membership. Unfortunately during 2024 I used the facility no more than 3 or 4 times due to a number of family emergencies and monthly work trips. I never thought about my locker or the items I had left in there because I didn’t think there would be an issue. I went back finally the beginning of this month. Imagine my surprise when I found a different name on my locker! I had one of the gals from the front desk come back with me and she then opened all the lockers in the vicinity. She mentioned several times there had been “a lot of turnover”. I checked in over the next 3 weeks to see if my items had been found. I was asked to send a description of each item, which I did, along with pictures. Last week I received an email telling me per the “liability” policy I was not going to be reimbursed for anything, along with the comment “we couldn’t find you had a health club membership”. So now I am also getting a veiled accusation that I made this up. Does the liability policy cover employees assigning a locker to someone else and removing items? Apparently so! This has left me with such a bad feeling I never want to go back. I’m afraid to leave my purse in a locker now for even a short workout. It really is too bad when a facility cannot admit that they made a mistake.
January 27 · K CatayMy granddaughter had a wonderful swimming birthday party here. The staff were very helpful and price was very reasonable for what they provided. All had fun!
February 20 · Sue Smith (LPNtchr)I love the JCC! They keep everything so clean! All the staff I have had the pleasure of communicating with have always been great, my daughter loves going to fit and sit while I workout and I feel comfortable leaving her knowing the teachers in the room are great. We have utilized many of their offerings over the years from summer camp to swim team to personal training to exercise classes and I simply cannot say enough good things. The only downside I see is that it can be challenging to get a spot for my daughter in fit and sit especially in the summer. I recommend everyone looking for a gym to check it out!
