Variety of Yoga Classes: The studio provides a rich variety of class types to suit different preferences and levels. Offerings include Jivamukti Yoga, a creative and spiritually focused Vinyasa style; Ashtanga Yoga, practiced in the traditional Mysore-style where students move at their own pace; and Vinyasa Flow, a mixed-level class focusing on linking breath to movement.
Specialized and Gentle Practices: For those seeking a more relaxing or restorative experience, Jala offers classes like Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Flow & Restore. These classes use props to support the body, allowing for deep relaxation and the release of tension. They are perfect for beginners or anyone looking to soothe their nervous system.
Meditation and Other Practices: In addition to physical postures, the studio provides classes dedicated to meditation and breathwork. The focus on yogic philosophy is a core part of the Jala experience, reminding students that yoga is a holistic practice that extends beyond the physical body.

Emphasis on Community and Inclusion: The studio is described by a long-time member as the "absolute best yoga studio" they have ever been to, praising the teachers and students for being "so welcoming." Highly Knowledgeable and Caring Instructors: A standout feature is the quality of instruction. The teachers are praised for their genuine care for each student, meeting them "where they’re at" and helping them build a proper foundation. The owner, Bristol, is highlighted for her deep commitment to the "true teachings of yoga" and for reminding students that the practice is about more than just the physical.
Fusion of Yoga and Art: The name itself reflects a core feature of the studio. Jala is both a yoga studio and an art space. The studio features art shows, blending two complementary disciplines that, as the owner believes, both explore consciousness. This unique environment provides a visually inspiring backdrop to the yoga practice.
Clean and Comfortable Environment: The physical space is described as a "sanctuary" that is "clean and bright." The studio is gently heated to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for practice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Well appointed, centrally located in Providence this is quite the sanctuary for a yoga studio. Studio is clean and bright; most importantly my favorite yoga instructor is substituting this Monday morning, Aug 18 at 7:30 am. I am visiting from NC and am grateful to have this opportunity to practice with David Vendetti in real life.
August 18 · J YJala is the absolute best yoga studio I have ever been to. The teachers here really care about each student as an individual and meet them where they’re at to help them build the proper foundation for each posture. There is such a variety of classes. I used to be intimated by other yoga studios, but not here. Teachers and students alike are so welcoming. It’s a lowkey studio in that everyone checks their ego in the door and definitely doesn’t worry about wearing the latest gear- come as you are, it’ll feel like coming home. Bristol cares so deeply about the true teachings of yoga and it is something that has become essential to both my practice and life. She honors the traditions in a way that reminds you that yoga is about more than moving your body. The classes here aren’t a “workout” they are an exercise in combining your mind and body to be the best version of yourself you can be. I got to go on a retreat with Bristol last year and it was one of the most profound experiences I’ve had in my life. Since moving out of Providence there is just no studio that compares to the warmth, community, and commitment to the tradition and teachings of yoga that I can find. I truly miss practicing here.
May 16 · Sydney CohnBristol taught a class for Rhode Island Vegan Awareness last Saturday. It was my first time there, she was welcoming and the class was restorative. I appreciated Bristol's inquiry of any injuries before class, she checked in on s too make sure it wasn't too much and also offered to help correct our postures if needed. I most definetly recommend this studio. ♡
June 07 · Robyn DuboisI had been practicing yoga for ten years, but it wasn't until I walked into Jala five years ago that I knew I found what I had been seeking all along. Excellent teachers with many years of experience. Incorporating ancient wisdom into classes - not watering it down, but teaching directly from ancient texts. The best community - kind and thoughtful people also looking to learn and grow.
October 18 · Eve CareyOf all the studios I’ve been to Jala is truly the best! Bristol is a wealth of yoga knowledge and support (literally, when it’s handstand time), and just a kind, funny, and lovely person. I especially appreciate the care Jala is taking to keep their students safe amid the ongoing covid-19 pandemic — so grateful to be able to practice in the studio knowing that Bristol is taking every precaution. Love you Jala!!!
