GritCycle 2nd & PCH Introduce
Introduction / Overview: Your Destination for High-Energy Indoor Cycling
For fitness enthusiasts across California, especially those near the vibrant coastal community of Long Beach, finding a workout that is as engaging as it is effective is key. GritCycle 2nd & PCH is a dedicated group indoor cycling studio that serves as a specialized gym, focusing on delivering high-intensity, music-driven group workouts. Located in the popular 2nd & PCH development, this facility is built around the indoor cycling experience, aiming to provide a fun, invigorating, and community-focused fitness environment.
Unlike traditional, large-scale gyms that house a variety of equipment, GritCycle specializes in its niche, offering a deeply focused workout experience. The studio centers on the "hypeness," the music, and the overall "vibe" that indoor cycling enthusiasts seek. The concept is straightforward: providing dynamic cycling classes designed to push physical limits while creating an exciting group energy. New customers are welcomed with an offer of a complimentary first class, making it easy for Long Beach residents to sample the experience and decide if the high-energy atmosphere is the right fit for their fitness journey. The booking process is reported to be straightforward, aligning with modern fitness business standards.
While the workout itself is generally reported as "enjoyable," the customer experience is a significant factor in the overall impression. Some visitors highlight a warm, welcoming environment with helpful staff and appreciate the "little things," such as well-stocked restroom amenities including dry shampoo, deodorant, and hair ties. However, a contrasting review points to a concerning lack of customer service, particularly for first-time riders. This included a failure to provide essential instructions on bike operation, shoe application, or even basic studio navigation (restrooms, lockers), leading to feelings of being "unwelcoming" and creating a "substantial safety concern" due to uncertainty regarding correct form. This mixed feedback suggests that while the core workout may be powerful, the consistency of front-line client engagement and instruction for new users can vary, which is a key element for any specialized fitness center catering to a diverse California clientele.

What is Worth Choosing at GritCycle 2nd & PCH
For the Long Beach resident who values a specific, high-octane workout, GritCycle 2nd & PCH presents a compelling option, particularly for those already passionate about group indoor cycling. The primary draw is the studio's complete dedication to this single fitness type, which allows them to fully commit to the music, energy, and overall vibe that defines an excellent spin class. This specialization means the focus is strictly on creating an immersive, powerful cycling experience, a distinct advantage over general gyms.
The studio is located in a highly desirable and convenient area, the 2nd & PCH development, making it easy to access and integrate into a busy Californian lifestyle. Its commitment to basic convenience is also noteworthy, offering an easy booking process, both locked and unlocked storage options, and accepting common payment methods (Credit cards and Debit cards). A small but significant detail appreciated by members is the provision of well-stocked restroom amenities—including dry shampoo and hair ties—which enhances the post-workout experience for people on the go.
However, potential members must consider the specific critiques raised in customer reviews. While the complimentary first class is a strong incentive, new riders should be aware that customer service and safety instructions may not be consistently provided, specifically regarding bike operation and studio layout. The unique layout of the bikes, where some riders may not face the front, is a feature that some enthusiasts might find "uncomfortable" or distracting. Additionally, technical concerns regarding bike maintenance, such as shoes sliding on the pedals or handles getting "unloose" during a ride, are noted safety and performance issues that could severely impact the workout quality.
Ultimately, GritCycle 2nd & PCH is worth choosing for the experienced group cyclist in the Long Beach area who is seeking a high-energy, music-focused workout and values a prime location and thoughtful amenities. Prospective members should use their complimentary class to personally assess the consistency of bike maintenance and the level of instruction provided, particularly if they are new to indoor cycling or have high safety expectations regarding equipment. The positive reports of a great vibe and enjoyable workout suggest that when the operational elements align, the core cycling experience is excellent.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Having consistently engaged in (HIIT) and yoga for a significant period, I sought to expand my fitness routine. This led me to book a Grit class through ClassPass. My experience upon arrival, however, was marked by a profound lack of customer service, creating an unequivocally unwelcoming atmosphere. As instructed, I arrived fifteen minutes prior to the class start time to facilitate shoe rental and receive initial guidance. Regrettably, only the shoe rental was provided. I was not informed about any studio amenities, including the locations of restrooms or lockers, nor was I given instructions on the proper fitting or timing for cycling shoe application.More critically, and representing a substantial safety concern, no instruction was offered regarding the operation of the bike. I had to seek assistance from another class participant, as the front desk or coaches did not offer any assistance, nor could I distinguish who the coach was until the very start of class. At the conclusion of the session, there was no inquiry regarding my experience, nor was a simple acknowledgment or thank you extended. This consistent oversight in client engagement made my visit feel unwelcoming, and consequently, I will not be returning. It is unfortunate, as the workout itself was enjoyable, despite my uncertainty regarding correct form and bike adjustments due to the absence of proper guidance.
July 16 · AnishaI've been very much into indoor cycling group workouts. I love the music, the hypeness, the bikes, and just the overall vibe. When I came across Gritcycle I was excited to check them out. They offer one complimentary class which I used. The booking process is easy and is pretty much the same as other fitness businesses these days. When I arrived, I was greeted by the staff and was given instructions and a pair of shoes. Since this was my first time, the shoes were free but are normally $2 to rent. They offer both locked lockers or unlocked cubbies. The bathroom is a regular bathroom offering tampons, hair ties, spray deorderant, dry shampoo. The usual items you see at most fitness spots. I always enjoy the little things like this.Ok, so now, the actual workout. Well, let me talk about the layout of the bikes which I wasn't a fan of. Of course, I was in a bike not facing the front which totally threw me off and made me uncomfortable. I'm not used to cycling not facing the front. Ugh! When you book the bike, it's not really clear what direction its facing. The instructor, Leilani was great and all, but she wasn't riding with us. There were two guys at the front riding and demonstrating, but I feel that I lost the connection with the instructor and then lost the vibe. That was new for me, usually instructors are riding and may come off the bike for a sec then hop right back on. There was definitely a disconnect for me. Now, the bike, I was on bike #5. While cycling, I noticed both shoes would slide side to side while locked to the pedal. I'm not sure if that's how their bikes are designed. But I didn't like that, I didn't feel secure and would get nervous. Also, the top part of the bike where the handles are kept getting unloose. I would have to turn the knob to tighten it during my ride. This happened at least three times. So when we would have to ride up then lower down, the handles would pull back with me. So not only was there a disconnect for me with the instructor, but with the workout and the class itself. I couldn't get my rhythm down or a good flow because the bike was just not it. Super frustrating. I did voice my frustration about the bike with one of the girls who was working there. She apologized and said they'll look into it.Comparing my experiences with Soul Cycle, Sweat Cycle, and Cycle Bar, Grit Cycle is last on my list.
August 29 · Darlene DBeen cycling for over 4 years and this place made me question if I was losing my enjoyment of spin. The air/fans aren’t turned on until about 20 minutes into class. The pedaling speed is always super fast. Slower songs are seldom with boring choreography like corners for an entire song. I tried different times and instructors before I made my decision because sometimes it’s the style or music you don’t vibe with. I finally just gave up because of how much I did not enjoy myself. Beautiful studio with so much potential.
December 17 · StypulI went to the 8:15am class on 2/22/24 and the front staff was rude and unhelpful. I didn’t catch the girls name, but the women who checked me in seemed like she didn’t want to be there, she didn’t do a good job of explaining the rules for this location. When let into the class it was extremely dark, and another staff member snapped at me for using my phone to try and find my bike. Again it was very dark, the staff didn’t offer a flashlight or anything, while I was trying to adjust the bike in the dark. The teacher was good, it was hard at times to understand her commands. When I was leaving the staff was talking to themselves didn’t really acknowledge anyone leaving. I am disappointed because I just moved to LB and want to find a spin class. I will not be going back to this place.
February 22 · Whisper WashingtonTook my first class at Grit and ABSOLUTELY loved every second of it! Besides Sammy being the best instructor I've ever taken, the front desk staff was also extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Can't wait to come back!!
