★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dirty gym. As a former D1 athlete I can certainly say this gym misses most bare minimum expectations. I bought a 1 month membership to try it out and happened to get COVID and missed a large portion of the month. I asked the desk multiples times if they could be courteous and either give me some refund or another month so I could at least get money worth. After emails and phone calls to them I finally got answered and was told they would call back soon (they never called). So besides having poor management — the weights, benches, machines, mats all have holes and rust. It’s a sore sight to the eye and I’m not sure a single piece of equipment is in the 2000s era. Let alone you’re smashed together next to one another because how tight the gym space is. And if you have any questions about the gym or of the sorts… don’t bother asking the front desk. They just sit on the sofa and say “uhhh I don’t know”. 0/5
June 20 · Zach D.I go here especially for the Les Milles classes. The instructors here are friendly and great! The space they have for the classes is full of mirrors which can be a pro or con depending on preferences.
April 20 · Arthur RomanoAbout three years ago I joined this gym because they have daycare for my daughter. The facility is small, but has all the basics I need for my workout. The staff is really friendly. The new manager (Scotti) is awesome. I love Fernanda's Yoga -- she's amazing!!!
September 16 · JanejiraThis gym is very good, with the potential to be a bit better. First, I'll start with the fact that the employees are great, nice, and very helpful. There's always plenty of staff around and they help make the members feel like a little community. Second, the amenities are endless. Not only is there a huge selection of equipment including dumbbells up to 140lbs, there's also a tanning room, dry sauna, locker room w/ showers, tons of cardio stuff, a heavy lifting room, and more. Now, onto the improvements that I think this place really deserves. The smallest thing is Wifi. For the first month I went there I just had to use data to stream music which ate up a ton of my monthly cap. It was only when I found out that the laundry place next door had free wifi that this problem got solved but I feel like this gym should have its own, private wifi for employees and members since just about everyone is using their phone for music. Secondly, either the 4 TV's in the front need to be larger or the one large TV facing the weights should be used for something other than advertisements (Or just get more TV's). Entertainment is crucial for cardio but it is also really helpful in between sets while lifting. Even 1 or 2 TV's set to ESPN or something (Anything but news channels) would really help break up boredom during off times. And finally, my BIGGEST COMPLAINT is the temperature inside. I'm guessing the place is kept at around 72-74 degrees and that place feels like a SAUNA during a workout. If you want to sweat through your shirt by the end of your warm up, this is the place for you. I'm not sure if this temperature range was requested or if it is kept warmer due to the relatively large number of older members but even for non-aerobic exercises it feels oppressive. I'm not a big fan of myself and other members needlessly dripping sweat all over the equipment as it's both gross and contributes to longer clean up times for the members and staff. You'll notice that people rarely do intense cardio at the front, likely because you would be dripping sweat and gasping after 8 minutes on the stair climber. There is a large fan for the cardio section but not only does it not move very fast, but the other 80% of the gym gets nothing from it. I understand cooling a building of that size is expensive but even 2-5 box fans throughout would be a huge help.To conclude: It's an awesome gym, much better than those crossfit gyms scattered throughout State College. But with a couple changes, I think the experience could be greatly improved.Side note: Try and meet the owner, Scotty, if you get a chance. She was the first person I met there and she's great!Edit: Oh, and please fix the "Membership" page on the website. Price listings would be very helpful.
