★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I signed up for a free trial at Crunch 59th St and was genuinely surprised at how big this gym is, 3 floors total which is wild for a gym in the city. One of the employees was super friendly and gave me a tour when I first walked in, and right away I noticed how everything felt really new and clean since the place was recently renovated. There’s even a little spa-style room with massage chairs and massage guns you can use, which I thought was such a cool touch, though of course that’s only available for members who pay for a membership that includes it. The locker rooms are honestly one of the nicest I’ve seen at any gym, they’re huge, with plenty of bathroom and shower stalls, and I saw staff cleaning pretty regularly which I really appreciated. The machines all looked pretty new and well-maintained, and I liked how everything was divided up clearly, an area for arms machines, a section for legs, and then a big open space for stretching or yoga. I also love the new mirrors they added, it makes the gym feel way more open and spacious compared to other Crunch locations I’ve been to.One of my favorite things was a private room tucked away with bikes, perfect if you wanted a quiet space away from the rest of the gym. The staff here are really nice and you can tell they recognize and know a lot of the regulars who come in, which gives the place a more personal, welcoming vibe.Overall I feel like there’s so much to do here even with a basic membership, and I’m definitely thinking of coming back again.
April 19 · Becky ZhangI must say, up front, that I helped lead the installation of the sound system at this location and others. Crunch is a client, so naturally, I must disclose this. That being said, I would really like to thank the staff (and patrons) for their incredibly warm and welcoming attitudes, and their willingness to help make things go smoothly during the “crunch time” of the installation. The staff at Crunch are great people. I don’t know how this company does it, but no matter what location I go to, there is a consistent, positive vibe from every person that works there. They really seem to value working there. A lot of places offer friendly service and smiles. At Crunch, I can tell it is genuine. Thank you to the whole team for making this project fun to work on. Keep doing what you’re doing. Now how do I sign up for a membership for myself?
April 15 · Sanjay PatelThis is a great gym. It's always busy, which helps create energetic environment, but it never feels crowded because it has so many options and space available for whatever workout you want to do. Cleanliness is excellent, and the staff is friendly and helpful. And Rachelle (I hope that I've spelled that name correctly) deserves recognition because she does a great job of making me feel welcome each time that I check in.Update: Since I wrote the previous review, Crunch 59th has finished renovations, which includes the addition of a recovery lounge. Massage chairs, water massage, tables, and red light therapy. It is a great addition to the gym, and can serve as a reward for making it to the gym for a workout!
August 14 · Roger radioTried the free pass at this crunch fitness location. For my first time in crunch fitness I really enjoyed how clean the gym was. And they have pretty much everything. Vibes were chill.
August 20 · Munty SavageThis was hands down the worst gym experience I’ve had in NYC. My friend—who’s a top-tier Crunch member in Florida—invited me to work out with her using her guest pass. When we arrived, we were told she had to pay $10 and I had to pay $35 because Manhattan locations are “signature level.” Fine. But then AFTER we paid we were told we couldn’t access the very amenities we came for—no cold plunge, hydro massage, or even a tour. Just the sauna. We were never offered any other “level” to pay so I’m not sure how much it is to even access that. The locker room was under active construction—literally, tools and debris everywhere, garbage bags hanging from walls, Q-tips on the floor. The sauna was also under construction so we couldn’t even use that! The showers were directly next to this, which felt both unsafe and unsanitary. There were also no sanitation wipes for machines, no locks available for lockers (you’re expected to buy one), and the whole place felt like a cramped Blink Fitness—not a premium experience. The final straw? There were male construction workers in the women’s locker room, next to the showers. I didn’t even feel safe changing clothes, let alone showering. When I went to voice my concerns to the front desk, Nikki was extremely dismissive, defensive, and even ignored me to take a phone call mid-conversation. Absolutely disgraceful. Crunch should be ashamed.
