Center yoga is my favorite studio because I am challenged, learn new things, & leave feeling like I got my ass beat & in a better head space every single time.Every instructor is personable, knowledgeable, obviously in love with their practice, and there’s not too much religious jargon which I appreciate.Sometimes I feel too heavy of a weird spiritual weight in yoga classes. The energy in center is always positive and uplifting. It inspire me to be grateful and feel my spirituality in my own way. Many studios in the city feel too easy for me. In contrast, sometimes I need a 2 day break after center 😂♥️ - Madison Jael

The studio’s atmosphere is described as "down to earth" and "approachable," providing a no-frills environment where practitioners can focus on their breath and movement. Center Yoga is a place where you can get a serious workout, improve your flexibility and strength, and leave feeling a sense of gratitude and positive energy, inspiring a feeling of spirituality in your own way. • Group Lessons: The studio offers a variety of group yoga classes for all levels. These classes are known for being challenging and always include breathwork. Specific classes include Hatha Yoga, a more traditional style focusing on postures and breath; Yin Yoga, which involves deep stretches and long holds to work on connective tissues; and Power Hour, a shortened version of their signature Center Yoga class designed for a quick but effective workout. These classes start at $25.00 for a drop-in.
  • Private Lessons: For those who prefer one-on-one attention, Center Yoga provides private lessons. These sessions are tailored to the individual's specific needs, allowing for focused instruction and personalized practice. This is ideal for beginners looking to learn the fundamentals or experienced practitioners wanting to deepen their practice. Private lessons are available from $147.00.
  • Massage Services: The studio also operates as a massage spa and massage therapist, offering various types of bodywork. Services include Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage, and Neuromuscular Release Technique Massage. These massages are designed to relieve tension, improve circulation, and aid in recovery, complementing the physical demands of a yoga practice. Massage sessions start from $137.00.
  • Holistic Medicine: Center Yoga provides holistic health services, specifically Master Level Reiki. Reiki is a form of energy healing that aims to promote relaxation and reduce stress. This service, starting from $187.00, speaks to the studio's commitment to holistic wellness, addressing mental and spiritual health in addition to physical fitness.

Center Yoga stands out from other New York fitness studios with a few key features and highlights that define its unique atmosphere and approach to wellness. These elements are what make the studio a favorite among its members.

  • Uplifting and Down-to-Earth Energy: The studio is praised for its "positive and uplifting" energy. It avoids the "weird spiritual weight" that can sometimes be found in yoga classes, instead focusing on a genuine, approachable atmosphere. This vibe makes it a safe and welcoming space for all, regardless of their spiritual beliefs. The instructors are described as "personable, knowledgeable, obviously in love with their practice," contributing to the studio’s positive environment.
  • Challenging Classes: For those who feel that many city studios are "too easy," Center Yoga offers a refreshing contrast. The classes are designed to be challenging, pushing students to grow and discover new things about their bodies and minds. This rigor results in a feeling of having "got ass beat" in the best way possible, leading to a sense of accomplishment and improved physical strength.
  • Unheated Room with Natural Warmth: The studio is not heated, but a reviewer noted that it "naturally gets warm which helps with flexibility." This provides a comfortable and effective environment for practice without the artificial heat of a hot yoga studio, which can be overwhelming for some.
  • Welcoming and Unique Touches: One of the most endearing and memorable features is that "instructors often have their dogs with them and they watch during class." This adds a unique, homey, and comforting element to the studio, further reinforcing its down-to-earth and approachable atmosphere. The option to rent a mat for a low price of $2 also adds to the convenience for those who are traveling light or just starting their practice.
