Services Offered
3rd Street Boxing Gym provides a comprehensive range of training options catering to all skill levels, from absolute novices to competitive athletes. The core offerings are delivered through expertly led classes, specialized programs, and individualized coaching.
- Beginner Boxing Classes: A structured, multi-level curriculum (Beginner Boxing 1, 2, and 3) designed to teach fundamental techniques like stance, footwork, all punch numbers (1-8), slips, rolls, and basic defense in a non-intimidating environment. This is the perfect starting point to build a solid foundation.
- Specialized Group Classes: Includes 'Old School Boxing' (focusing on classic heavy bag work, mat-based strength drills, and technique refinement), 'Tough Love' (a challenging blend of boxing, cardio, and strength/conditioning), and 'Strength and Endurance' (blending resistance training and cardio for full-body conditioning).
- Muay Thai: Classes led by a professional fighter and expert, covering the 'art of 8 limbs' (punches, kicks, elbows, knees, and clinch work) through warm-ups, shadow boxing, drilling techniques, and padwork.
- The Academy Program: A more intensive, technique-focused program for dedicated boxers looking to spar and potentially compete. It requires prerequisites and a USA Boxing registration, focusing on advanced fundamentals and mitt work.
- Personal Training: One-on-one sessions with experienced coaches, allowing for customized workouts and rapid skill development based on individual goals, whether that's fitness, technique, or competition readiness.
- Boxing Bootcamp: A rigorous four-week program, five days a week, designed for a jump-start in learning techniques, losing weight, gaining strength, and developing muscle tone through boxing drills, high-intensity cardio, and strength training. Beginners are highly encouraged to dive in.
- Youth Boxing Program: Classes and gym access tailored for young boxers aged 7-14, focusing on building self-confidence, discipline, and overall fitness.
- Gym Access / Club Use: Facilities-only membership allowing use of the 5,700 sq ft facility for independent training, including the ring, heavy bags, strength equipment, and cardio machines.

3rd Street Boxing Gym Reviews
Great gym. Very welcoming. Classes for all levels. Takes boxing and martial arts seriously - not just a "class gym." If I lived here I'd get involved in more of the boot camps and sparring. I live in New York and have been boxing for 8-9 years. Whenever I'm home in SF I make it a point to go to Third Street. I always leave feeling much, much better than when I walked in.
August 20 · Shana MurraywolfBest Boxing gym in the Bay Area. 10/10My only complaint is I wish my schedule would allow me to be there more often. Love it, the people, the staff, the coaches. Dave!Grateful for this community.
September 25 · Maggie BradleyDave is awesome. He is so much fun to work with. Very patient. personable and tailors coaching to my needs. A great coach and human being. The gym is phenomenal. Very well equipped and well maintained. Saturday morning in SF is beautiful. I would love to bring my kids and have them taught by Dave at this gym.
May 03 · SUN IK LEEThird Street is an incredible boxing gym. The coaches are experienced and the classes are technical while still being approachable. They have a great program for beginners and fighters alike. The personality and community here is unmatched. I moved from the east coast and was worried I wouldn't be able to find a new boxing gym that felt like "home". Third Street exceeded my expectations and I couldn't imagine being a member anywhere else.
